Hi, my name is Olivia Mendez-Alm and I am the primary advisor for Criminology & Criminal Justice as well as Sociology students. Prior to starting at UMSL in November of 2016, I was the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Success and Retention at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. I have a BA in Liberal Studies and Sociology (2003) and a M.Ed. in Urban Education (2008) and have hopes for entering a doctoral program in the future. I have experience working with admission and retention of a diverse population and I find great joy in helping college students navigate the twists and turns of their educational journeys. When I’m not at work, you can find me cooking, hiking, taking photos, and enjoying time with my husband and two young children.
