The Alan Ross Achievement Scholarship
Award: $2,500
Criteria: Undergraduate or Graduate WGS Certificate seeker, cumulative 3.0 GPA
Application Deadline: April 7, 2008

Friends of Sharon Marglous Memorial Scholarship
Award: $750
Application Deadline: April 7, 2008
Criteria: Student 25 years or older, in transition, resident of St. Louis city or county, demonstrating academic promise. Preference for female recipient.

Women as Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
Award: Up to $1,500
Application Deadline: April 7, 2008
Criteria: Undergraduate WGS Certificate seeker, cumulative 2.5 GPA, serious financial need. Requires FAFSA application submitted to Financial Aid Office by March 15

Robert and Fern Mreen Scholarship
Award: Up to $1,500
Application Deadline: April 7, 2008
Criteria: Undergraduate WGS Certificate seeker, cumulative 2.5 GPA, serious financial need. Requires FAFSA application submitted to Financial Aid Office by March 15.

Graduate Scholarship & Assistantship

McAffrey Family Scholarship
Award: Up to $1,000
Application Deadline: April 7, 2008
Criteria: Cumulative GPA 3.0 in WGS courses, student 25 years or older, needing to enter or return to the workplace, in financial need.

IWGS Graduate Assistantship
Stipend: $7,000 for 9-month appointment with tuition remission
Application Deadline:April 7, 2008
Criteria: Graduate student enrolled in WGS Graduate Certificate Program. 3.0 cumulative undergraduate and graduate GPA
Description: 9-month graduate assistantship to assist Instructors in teaching WGS classes. Duties may include leading class discussion groups, grading papers, and other
tasks assigned by the Instructor.

Application materials must include transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a one-page letter outlining qualifications and interest as they relate to the specific award and IWGS. Send materials to: Scholarship Committee, IWGS, 212 Clark Hall. The Institute for Women’s and Gender Studies welcomes applications from both female and male students. Other Scholarships

American Association of University Women
Criteria: Mature female undergraduate student attending at least part time and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.5, demonstrating a financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Elisabeth A. Horkids Fund
Criteria: Minimum GPA 3.0, prefer female, full time, demonstrating financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

George Dewey Ross Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in the humanities. The recipient shall be an outstanding student who demonstrates financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and who is active in the community on behalf of the disadvantaged an/or themselves be a member of a racially or economically disadvantaged group. Students must be enrolled full-time and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Gwendolyn M. Tsadik Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Minority of disadvantaged student living in the St. Louis Metropolitan area with special emphasis on inner-city youth. First consideration given to immediate family members of Gwendolyn M. Tsadik.

Hazel L. Kohring for Women in Transition
Criteria: Cumulative GPA 2.25, displaced female, 25 years or older, in transition, resident of St. Louis city or county.

Lena Key Cassidy Memorial
Criteria: Sole or primary financial supporter of themselves and one or more dependents; undergraduate or graduate, qualify for degree within four semesters, demonstrating financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Lucinda DeLeftwich Templin Scholarship
CriteriaLWomen demonstrating financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Mason Family Science
Criteria: Min GPA 3.0, female minority with financial need pursuing degree in sciences.

May Department Stores Minority Scholarship
Criteria: Preference to African-American students with financial need and strong academic performance. Internship may be required.

Monxmode Foundation Parent/Child Scholarship
Criteria: Missouri resident, African-American single parent with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Must have completed between 60 and 90 credit hours and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Must be full-time and enrolled in a degree program. The recipient will have at least one child between the ages of six weeks to five years. As a requirement of this scholarship, the recipient must agree to enroll the child in the UM-ST. Louis University Child Development Center. This expense will be paid as a part of the scholarship Award.

Peter W. & Helen M. Goode Fund
Criteria: Minimum GPA 3.0, rank in top 10% of HS class or top 15% on ACT/SAT for MO students; possess leadership abilities, minorities and women, MO resident.

Professional Women of Southwestern Bell Foundation, Inc.
Criteria: Min GPA 3.0, undergraduate, St. Louis metro residents, top 20% of class or ACT/SAT, financial need.

Ray and Lucia Kramer Collins Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Preference to junior or senior single parents returning to formal higher education and undergoing significant lifestyle or career change and demonstrating financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Must be full-time student and be supporter of one or more dependents.

Theodore McNeal Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Minority student desiring a career in public service, a graduate of an accredited St. Louis area high school, who maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

Towards Independence
Criteria: Minimum GPA 2.0, female in transition, financial need.

UM-St. Louis African-American Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Criteria: Preference to African-American junior or senior attending at least part-time (6 or more hours). The recipient shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

UM-St. Louis Women Fund
Criteria: Cumulative GPA 2.5, completed 12 hours, undergraduate, female in transition, financial need.

Women’s Connection Network Scholarship
Criteria: Female in transition, 25 years or older working towards a certification or degree after a significant lifestyle or career change. May be a full or part-time student with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and demonstrating financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

NOTE: a female in transition refers to a female undergoing significant lifestyle or career change; or a female needing to enter or return to the workplace.
