Dear family and
friends,
Today Dan met with PT, OT the PA from Dr. Black's office, several
residents and interns, the discharge planning nurse and the home
health liason.
The PT and OT suggested that Dan may really prefer to stay an extra
night, to build more strength before getting out to stay in the
hotel for several days.
I was glad, because I was basically thinking the same thing, even
though he is doing incredibly well, he is still healing, and was
today 2 days post op from major brain surgery... an extra night in
the hospital will be fine.
The PT also worked with him on his brace and fitted him with a cane
so he would be more stable. Both the PT and OT recommended
outpatient therapy, and so we spent some time working on getting
that arranged, and will probably be done at Greene Memorial.
The OT worked on his arm, doing some stretches and making
suggestions for making life easier, while continuing to work on his
left hand.
The discharge nurse is arranging for a home nurse to visit Dan in
the hotel during the next week. There is nothing major that
needs skilled nursing but we both feel assured there will be someone
coming to check on him.
After much ado with scheduling folks, we have an 11:00 am
appointment with Dr. Black on Tuesday, and hope to leave town
Tuesday afternoon, or Wednesday morning, and to take our time
driving back to YS.
We have heard that Zac was "student of the week" this
week, and happily had a snow day on Wednesday... not a bad deal
there. Hana was happy to visit Mimi on Wednesday, and is
working hard at school. They are happy and comfortable with
Phyllis and Ron, who lovingly attend to all their needs and cares.
Zachary was also very excited to talk with Dan on the phone on
Wednesday because he thought that they would not get to speak
together until Friday! Hana was relieved that Dan is not
completely bald! They await, as we do, news of further
treatment.
So, blissfully simple news today. We send love and blessings
to all.
With love and peace,
Abi and Dan
