Eleanor reported that by noon, Dan was doing
well, also with improved appetite and fewer small seizures. The
epilepsy fellow said that the headaches were a concern, but that
they were going to do another CT, and continue to follow the infection
closely, which appears to be resolving. They also feel confident
that the headaches are not a bleed. It is possible that the headaches
are prodromal to seizure activity. So, today, they have kept him
well medicated with percocet to try and prevent the seizures.
Additionally, the final cultures (anaerobic) came back positive
for the same bacteria he had before. The ID folks think it has
probably been dormant all this time, waiting for an opportunity
to reactivate. However, they also consider this a minor problem
compared to the main organism. They added another antibiotic,
and await sensitivity testing on this new one as well.
Dan's report later in the day is that he had several visitors
this evening: his friend John Collinge and new friends from Boston,
Mimi and Nelson Burstein. He enjoyed these visits very much.
He also said that he did have a 4 minute seizure in the afternoon,
and that one of the residents (can't remember which one at this
point) thinks that headaches and siezures are not related.
He concurred with Eleanors report that he was eating better and
that helped him feel much better. His spirits sounded good and
refreshed on the phone.
Hana was very excited to talk with him tonight. And they shared
some special time together.
Well, that's the latest weather report.
With love and wondering at the mysteries,
