Dennis Bohnenkamp 1946-2006
We are sad to say that Dennis died on June 1 from complications following heart surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Dennis's Memorial Service will be on Sunday, June ll, at l:00 in the Honors College, Provinical House Chapel. A reception will be held immediately after the service.

Native St. Louisan Dennis Bohnenkamp earned his B.A. in Classical Studies/English and his M.A. in English at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He did further graduate study and teaching at The Center for the Study of Popular Culture at Bowling Green University in Ohio. He worked as a social worker, and as an administrator at the American Film Institute in Washington D.C. He served as Associate Dean of Pierre Laclede Honors College for five years, but has served the Honors College in some capacity, including as its Interim Dean , since its inception. He especially enjoyed creating new, interdisciplinary courses and teaching them. Some recent ones included, Cyberculture, Native American Mythology, and Alchemy, Cabala, and Magick. Dennis spent many of his 23 years at UM-St. Louis in the English Department and as an advisor in a student retention program. He oversaw the advising at the Honors College. He was the National Student Exchange Coordinator for the Campus. His publications include articles on physics and literature and on drugs, alcohol and literature.
