Course Requirements:

Majors complete at least 39, but not more than 45, hours in 1000-4000 level history courses with no grade below C-.  1000 level courses usually provide broad surveys, while 2000 and 3000 level courses offer in-depth historical content on a particular topic.  4000 level courses are designed primarily for majors and focus on developing historical research, writing, and thinking skills.

Requirements are as follows, but please meet with your advisor for detailed course information:
1000 Level Courses: 15 hours
2000 and 3000 Level Courses: 3-9 hours
HIST 3199 4 hours
4000 Level Courses: 6-12 hours
HIST 4999 5 hours

We especially encourage majors to take advantage of our Reacting to the Past role playing classes (HIST 1112) and our Internships with local historical agencies (HIST 4003).
