PMBA Group Contribution Form

Individuals in a group never contribute the exact equal amounts of time, content, and value. This often leads to some people feeling they worked more than others, and some people feeling left out.  Usually a leader emerges, one who will hopefully help find the gifts of each individual. Unfortunately, I cannot effectively intervene in these matters, and rely on you as adults to ensure that all members of your group meaningfully contribute to the data gathering, interviewing, analysis, slide design, presenting, and preparing the final document.

Occasionally, there may be a person who contributes little to nothing.  Even though this lack of contribution may be due to a valid reason such as illness, it is not fair that someone who did nothing can earn the same grade as people who contributed significantly.  The purpose of this document is to provide each group with an opportunity to reward or punish an individual's contribution to the group.  All members of the group should discuss this form, fill in this form as directed, sign this form, and turn it in to your professor on the last day of class.

q     Option 1:  We agree that all group members made a valuable contribution and therefore believe it is fair that each member receive the same grade for the oral presentation.

q     Option 2. We disagree that all group members made a valuable contribution.   Please adjust our grades based on the following percentage of contribution.

Example of how grades might be changed.

Suppose you had a 5 member group.  The group earned an 80 on the oral.  The default assumption is each person contributed 20%.  The grades will be adjusted by the percentage above or below the presumed percentage as follows:

Individual Name:

%Contribution to Oral Presentation

In case that you cannot reach a consensus, I will meet with all members of a group at one time.  I hope that I will not have to do this because I am not privy to the group's actual contributions and would prefer you come to a consensus by yourselves.

[1] Calculated by additional 10% *  80 = 8 added to score of 80  = 88

[2] Calculated by -10% times 80 = - 8 off score of 80 = 72
