Subject:Health update, take II

Today I went to see a surgeon named Dr. Goodall about my brain tumor. He looked at the MRI scans and agreed that it needs to be taken out and he would suggest doing it soon. He examed me and found that I have a slight 'deficit' on my left side. Looking at the films, he said there is some chance removing the legion may have a long term effect on this side of my body (maybe a 25% chance of something).

He said I would be in the hospital for about 5 days and the recovery would be between 6 weeks and 3 months.

Overall I liked him. He seemed pretty straight forward. My biggest concern is that he only goes to Greene and GrandView.

Later today I called Dr. Bernstein - another surgeon - and they told me about a new technology they are using for brain surgery. Now, we all know how much I LOVE technology - so this made me VERY excited. Basically, they use the lastest in imaging technology - MRI, CAT Scan, and PET to get multiple images of the brain. Then they feed these into a computer and make a 3D composit image of the brain and the legion. Finally, they use a Viewing Wond to guide their work as they do the surgery using this 3D model. They have been doing this since October.

This sounds excellent to me! So, I took my MRI films to him this afternoon and he looked at them tonight. He said he can't tell that the legion is cancerous from the films and would like to see me Monday at 9am. Even if he turns out to be wrong, he has given me a wonderful gift of hope and optimism for the weekend!

So, tonight I am feeling very good. I hope this message finds you very happy and healthy!

See ya around!
