Airport
Expansion
The
City of St. Louis wants to spend $2.6 billion
to build a new runway at Lambert airport. Building this runway would
require the "relocation" of 5000 people and the demolition of more than 2000 homes,
8 churches, 6 schools and 75 businesses. When all is said and done,
the new runway would provide a grand total of 6% additional capacity for
the airport.
That
much destruction just doesn't make much sense to me.
Of
course, my home is one of the more than 2000 being threatened by bulldozers.
Maybe
my opinion is biased.
These
web sites provide some insight (both pro and con) into the airport expansion
issues.
