krull_headshotRyan Krull is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Communication and Media in the College of Arts and Sciences at UMSL. He teaches Introduction to News Writing, Feature Writing, and a variety of other courses. As a journalist he's written for The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, The Columbia Journalism Review, and many other outlets.  

Locally, he has reported for The Riverfront Times on voter ID laws, policing, addiction and homelessness as well as other issues. Internationally, thanks to a 2018 Chinese Academy of Social Sciences fellowship, he was able to report a series of pieces from Beijing and Shanghai. He is the Interviews Editor for Boulevard magazine.

He earned his MFA in Creative Writing (2014) and a BA in Communication (2010) from UMSL. He also serves as faculty advisor to UMSL’s independent student newspaper, The Current.
