The Center for the Humanities at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, launched in 1992, is the only Humanities Center in the University of Missouri four-campus system and the state of Missouri. Serving a diverse, urban population, the Center's mission is to emphasize the humanities in the St. Louis bi-state region, and especially in local communities otherwise under-served by free humanities and arts programs.
The Center for the Humanities has two central objectives:
- to provide visibility and focus for humanities and arts activities at UMSL, and
- to attract and channel resources for the support of interdisciplinary humanistic and creative inquiry.
