The University of Missouri-St. Louis observes several holidays annually and typically closes except where continuous service is deemed essential by the University. You can learn more about holidays on the UMSystem website.

The following days have been designated as official University holidays for the 2022-23 academic year.

  • Juneteenth: June 20, 2022 (observed)
  • Independence Day: July 4, 2022
  • Labor Day: September 5, 2022
  • Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following: November 24-25, 2022
  • Christmas Day: December 26, 2022 (observed)
  • New Year’s Day: January 2, 2023 (observed)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr., Day: January 16, 2023
  • Memorial Day: May 29, 2023

Holidays are considered to extend over a 24-hour period. When a holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday is observed. When a holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday is observed.

Winter Break

The University will operate under a reduced operation plan during the period starting the day after Christmas Day holiday is observed and running through the end of the day before New Year’s Day holiday is observed. You can learn more about winter break on the UMSystem website.
