GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE OFFICE OF NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS

The Office of New Student Programs is operating remotely for now, but you can still connect with staff Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. by phone at 314-516-5271, or by email (orientation@umsl.edu). Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR ORIENTATION

You will log into your Triton Portal account at UMSL.edu/tritonportal to sign up for UMSL Orientation. You will login using your email and password that you used when you applied to UMSL. You will scroll down on the page to select the ‘Advising and Orientation’ dropdown section to begin filling out the form. After completion of ‘Advising and Orientation’ dropdown, select save and then you will be prompted to scroll down to the tab ‘Register for Orientation’ dropdown, select your Orientation session

We apologize for this inconvenience. We recommend deleting the cache information for your Triton Portal login page, and open up a new web browser. We recommend google chrome. In a new web browser, type: UMSL.edu/tritonportal that will direct you to our webpage, and select the Triton Portal button (red button). This will refresh your account, and you should be able to login successfully and begin your questionnaire and select your Orientation date. If you need additional support, please email us at orientation@umsl.edu or call 314-516-5271.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering the Triton Overnight Experience prior to our NSO and TSO sessions due to moving all summer 2020 Orientation sessions online.

There will be virtual opportunities to take a virtual tour of our housing options and speak with current residents and staff. Look for those invitations coming soon.

In addition, we are planning to incorporate similar elements in our Extended Orientation: Triton Take-Off Welcome Programming in August 2020. More information of events and schedules to come soon.

STUDENT VIRTUAL ORIENTATION EXPERIENCE

We are sad we won’t see you on campus this summer, but we have some exciting ways that we are going to connect you to campus virtually.  To help you prepare, please make plans to join us online through a computer or laptop on your New Student Orientation (NSO) or Transfer Student Orientation (TSO) event date. In addition, there will be opportunities to connect with your peers, student leaders, faculty and staff throughout the summer virtually in an effort to learn about campus resources, your interests, and continue to help prepare you for your first day of classes at UMSL.

New students will receive email communication to their personal email accounts, regarding their Orientation event. If you signed up for an NSO or TSO event, you will receive an overview schedule, and how to log into your Virtual Orientation session.

Upon completion of signing up for your Orientation event in your Triton Portal, you will receive additional information by email on how to make an appointment with your Academic Advisor. Your Academic Advisor will also be listed in your Triton Portal – in your Student Success Team. During your Orientation event, you will meet with your Academic Advisor.

PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Absolutely, you can still participate in the NSO or TSO event, however, the new virtual experience will be geared more for a student experience only.

We are encouraging our parents and family members to join our separate parent and family virtual sessions hosted throughout the summer. This will allow you to ask questions, hear from our staff regarding how you can support your students successfully, and learn about ways to stay connected while your student is at UMSL.

Stay connected with us by signing up for our monthly Parent & Family Newsletter here.

More information on UMSL New Parent and Family opportunities will be listed on our webpage.
