STUDENTS: Search for materials on reserve.
FACULTY: Access forms for placing or removing materials on reserve and for purchasing books for reserve.
The Thomas Jefferson Library maintains course reserve collections to support instructional requirements and consists of library materials and instructors’ books that faculty request be placed on reserve.
Please note that it is Library policy that we do not purchase textbooks, either for the circulating collection or for reserves, except in extraordinary circumstances (e.g. the Bookstore does not have copies and they are not readily available from other sources). When reviewing supplementary material, we consider how well an item serves as a resource in its own right, and how it fits into our long-term collection development goals.
Patrons may only have two reserve materials checked out at any given time. The loan periods for reserve materials are:
- 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, or 2 hours - Materials under these loan periods can leave the library
- 2 hours, Library Use Only - Materials under this loan period cannot leave the library. The patron’s ID card will be kept at the Public Service Desk during check out
The library will make items available as soon as possible once received, however please allow 24 to 48 hours for items to be placed on reserve.
Additional charges will be assessed for overdue materials.
The Libraries observe copyright law when placing materials on reserve. Detailed information is available on this web site: Copyright Law & TEACH Act.
