UMSL Alumnus Suchon Tuly (B.S. 1997, M.S. 1998, Economics) established the Sangdow Tuly Scholarship in Nursing to honor his mother. Sangdow was the world’s best mother and nurse. Her life exemplified the traits most important in nursing: compassion for others, constant integrity, and courage in the face of adversity. Sangdow valued the importance of education, and this fund will help future nursing students in their pursuit of a degree.
The Sangdow Tuly Scholarship in Nursing is a merit scholarship awarded annually to a full-time degree-seeking student with the highest GPA entering the final two semesters of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. If multiple students qualify for the award, consideration is given to factors including recipient’s financial need, socioeconomic challenges overcome, diversity, and future potential in the nursing profession.
