Dr. Hupman's CV


Dr. Hupman strives to foster critical thinking skills in her classes to help students reason through the logic underpinning probability, statistics, and data analysis, helping to make quantitative concepts attainable for all students. She builds connections between course content and real world applications, using case studies in Excel to help students develop apply course content and develop skills that are transferable to the workplace. In recognition of her teaching excellence, Dr. Hupman received the 2017 Gerald and Deanne Gitner Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Hupman's research interests include decision making under uncertainty, predictive modeling and uncertainty quantification, and applications of data analysis to business. She is particularly interested in understanding the value of information and leveraging insights from data for improved decision making within organizations. Her research has been funded by an UMSL Research Award and by an external industry grant.
