Welcome to UMSL

01/17/18

Dear UMSL Student,

Welcome to the spring semester of the University of Missouri–St. Louis. I am certainly delighted that you have selected this campus to continue your educational career.

This is an outstanding university with faculty and staff dedicated to fostering your success in a safe, diverse and inclusive environment. Please reach out to them individually for help when appropriate or to any of a host of departments and service units ranging from institutional safety, counseling and health services and student life. Here is a convenient link to a listing of essential departments/services that I encourage you to bookmark.

Please also use this link to sign up for emergency notifications – including messages when the campus is closing. We call it spring semester, but for much of the next few weeks we will be dealing with cold, winter weather conditions. Below is more information about campus closures.

Weather aside, I encourage you to study judiciously and to become involved in campus activities. Studies show that busy students succeed and often create lifelong friendships that serve as a support structure for career advancement and social stability. That’s certainly been my experience.

Again, thank you for choosing UMSL.

Stay warm,

Tom George
Chancellor
