Message from the Office of the Chancellor

August 22, 2022 - Welcome to the Fall Semester at UMSL

Dear UMSL Community,

It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome each of you to the Fall 2022 semester at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The fall is always such a special time of year as our campus community is brought back to life with a renewed energy and a shared drive for what’s ahead.

This academic year, we welcome nearly 15,000 new and returning students from across the state, nation and globe to the UMSL community. And, we will also graduate nearly 3,000 students who will join our network of more than 110,000 alumni – the largest alumni network in the region. While the academic journey is challenging for the best of us, what we know for certain is that today’s students will become tomorrow’s community and business leaders, educators, nurses, scientists, researchers, accountants, social workers, engineers, optometrists and educated citizens.

As our mission says: We Transform Lives. But, we don’t live out that mission alone. We do it as a Triton community. Together. A community built on the support and encouragement of one another so that we all feel the freedom to learn and grow. A community where we don’t compete, but rather one where we build each other up for our shared success.

Again, I welcome each of you to the fall semester at UMSL. Welcome to our new and returning students. Welcome to our new and returning faculty and staff. And, welcome to an academic year full of unlimited potential and possibility. I look forward to an academic year filled with shared success for us all.

Gratefully forward,

Kristin SobolikChancellorUniversity of Missouri–St. Louis
