June 14, 2022 - UMSL appoints Lisa Capone as vice chancellor for advancement

Dear UMSL Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Lisa Capone has accepted the position of vice chancellor for advancement, effective August 1. Lisa will soon bring her broad experience in university advancement – which includes comprehensive campaign management, corporate and foundation relations, development, and alumni and donor relations – to elevate the division, our university and our region as we approach UMSL’s 60th anniversary in 2023.

As vice chancellor, Lisa will oversee the strategic planning and resource allocation for the division and will engage community and business leaders, alumni, donors and supporters while interfacing with the faculty and staff to support the great transformative work that is happening at UMSL each and every day through strategic, nationwide alumni engagement and private philanthropic support. She will serve as a key member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, help oversee the Chancellor’s Council and support the relationships that we have with numerous business, civic and community partners.

Lisa currently serves as associate vice president for development at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the second largest university in the state serving more than 19,000 students. She has led comprehensive fundraising efforts at UL Lafayette since 2015, increased giving by more than 200% and closed the largest fundraising year in the university’s history in fiscal year 2021 with $56 million in gifts. Prior to UL Lafayette, she served as associate vice president of corporate and foundation relations at the Oklahoma State University Foundation and as Director of the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Louisiana State University.

I invite you to learn more about Lisa in UMSL Daily and hope you will join me in welcoming Lisa to our UMSL community.

Sincerely,

Kristin Sobolik
Chancellor
