  • What I like most about UMSL: The happy environment.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: being able to make people laugh and feel comfortable on my tour. Words of Wisdom to new prospective students: Get involved in campus organizations and events to meet new people and network.

  • What do I like: I really like the different organizations that we have on campus. The campus is very diverse.

Melissa Hug '17

  • What I like most about UMSL: I like the smaller classroom sizes. I also love the laid-back atmosphere.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: I love helping new students figure out where everything is around campus. We learn new things everyday and we take it with us to make us work better as a team.
  • Words of Wisdom: Everyone needs to get involved! Once you get involved with campus you will make new friends and it will be a great 4 years!

  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: It affords me the opportunity to move about the campus while meeting new people and learning new things.

  • What I like most about UMSL: The things that I like most about UMSL are the friendly atmosphere, the new and exciting people that attend school here, and the great faculty.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: The best aspect of working for the Welcome Center would have to be the fun and exciting friends that you meet as well as being able to show new and prospective students around campus.

  • What I like most about UMSL: The laid back atmosphere, the food and how cheap the school is for the quality of education we receive. I also love how easy it is to get involved on campus and make new friends.

  • What I like most about UMSL: It is very conservative at UMSL. I love how UMSL teaches students to be professional, but still understanding.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: I love educating new and prospective students about UMSL and its many offerings.

  • What I like best about UMSL: I love how UMSL students have the ability to get involved with more than 120 Organizations. In addition, my professors are always available to answer any questions that I might have. I also enjoy UMSL's laid back atmosphere, which has allowed me to meet some of my best friends. Go to class, meet people, do not be afraid to be the one who breaks the silence in your classroom, get involved on campus and have fun!

Chris Stanfill '17

  • Campus Involvement: UMSL's Opera, Theater Ensemble, Vocal Point, and University Singers, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, A.C.O.A., N.A.F.M.E.
  • What I like best about UMSL: I like the music program! I also like the friends that I've made so far. I have some great friends.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: Getting to meet and help new people. I've met a lot of really interesting people since I've started this job. Chris has loved his time at UMSL and can't wait to put to use all of the valuable lessons he has learned over the past four years!

Jordyn Szepanski '16

  • What I like most about UMSL: I have a busy schedule. I love how I can take classes online and still have a life outside of school.
  • Best aspect of working for the Welcome Center: Everybody at the Welcome Center is so friendly. Also, helping students find their way around campus is rewarding.
  • Words of Wisdom: Don't be afraid to meet new people College is not only about earning a degree. Make new friends and experience new things. Make the most out of these 4 years. Time flies by.

  • What I like most about UMSL: I like the small and home-like atmosphere.
  • Best part of welcome center: Giving tours allows for me to affect the lives of people that I probably would not have if I didn’t work here. I also get to educate them about the campus and tell them about my experiences here and encourage them.
  • Words of Wisdom: If you don’t know which direction to take, find a trusted person who has been there before and ask for guidance.
