We know students don't have enough time or money. This especially gets in the way for college students who want to start a business. Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) provides students the guidance needed to successfully bring an idea to market. Through one-on-one mentorship, participants will receive accountability couching, customized support, and connections to resources to get them further, faster. If you are in the beginning stages of your entrepreneur journey, schedule your first EIR session today!

Schedule Your First Appointment

During your initial appointment, you will get a better understanding of how the program works, your responsibilities, and what to expect from you mentor. We will get a better understanding of your needs and assign you a mentor for all your future appointments. Meet the Entrepreneur in Residence Mentors
Daniel Fogarty
At its inception, Daniel worked for financial technology accelerator SixThirty, where he vetted and assessed applicants. He now works for LaunchCode leading their candidate operations. Thanks to Daniel's assessment process, LaunchCode has successfully placed over 450 candidates into technology careers, with over a 90% success rate.
Tamas Javor
Tamas is responsible for the Entrepreneur Quest Student Accelerator and the Ameren Accelerator programs. He’s worked with dozens of student entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in the St. Louis startup ecosystem. His experience with startups, ranging from the idea phase to the beginning stages of the high growth and scaling phase, allows him serve a variety of entrepreneurs- regardless the stage of the venture.
Since 2016, Ala has lead entrepreneurship co-curricular programs at UMSL Accelerate. She is the creator of Entrepreneur in Residence, the Entrepreneur Legal Clinic @UMSL, and the Entrepreneur Legal Workshop @UMSL and continuously finds new ways to help UMSL students. She serves at the advisor for EC@UMSL and the CEO UMSL Chapter. She works closely with students in the idea phase and connects them to resources to help their businesses grow.
Dan Lauer Dan Lauer

Dan is a highly experienced and accomplished entrepreneur who can give students advice on how to develop their innovative ideas into a product or business. As a St. Louis native, he is the CEO and Founder of Lauer Toys and the creator of the baby doll Waterbabies. His product has achieved great success by being the second best selling baby doll, with over 24 million units sold.

Jorge is an accomplished entrepreneur with 30 plus years of experience in electronic transaction processing and healthcare information systems. As the founder of MEDINEXO, his innovative approach to healthcare collaboration has opened the way to accelerate and improve patient care. Before MEDINEXO, he served as president and CEO of Toro Technologies, Inc., delivering critical path systems for MasterCard and others in the payment industry.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, email accelerate@umsl.edu or call (314) 516-4626 a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. If an EIR participant misses an appointment without advance notice, UMSL Accelerate reserves the right to disqualify the entrepreneur from the EIR program.
