The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama who is the founder of the Buddhist religion. He was born a royal prince around the year 563 BC. Siddhartha’s birth was a mysterious one, he was placed inside of the womb of his mother as a white elephant and born out of her right side ten months later.

Siddhartha gave up all of his worldly goods and left his family in search of enlightenment. He studied under many religious teachers and ascetics; finally, he realized that enduring harsh conditions would end his life before he could find the answers of enlightenment. Siddhartha then discovered the middle path, the way of moderation. It was through this method that he obtained perfect enlightenment.

Buddha traveled all through India to preach in his rest of life. He created a theology based on moderation and the necessity of separation between physical and spiritual existence. He taught that souls were merely distracted by this world, or Samsara, an illusion, which kept souls away from wisdom and the Dharma.

The core of Buddhism’s teaching is a practice of finding peace within oneself. Buddhism is a teaching as a philosophy that regulates a persons place in the world.
