Half
buried on the wall of the of the workshop above the workbench
was an old toy - a Charley Weaver doll, waiting to be fixed. Charley
Weaver was a TV star (circa 1960) who portrayed an inebriated
elderly man.
In
his later retirement, my father fought a problem with alcohol.
In this light, finding the doll hidden on the wall was an interesting
metaphor.
