semester 2005
CLASS INTENT
This
class was set up by Ryan Stockwell, Sanford Rikoon, and John Wolford to
provide an oral history grounding for Mr. Stockwell to deepen his
historical research into the Missouri Farmers Association. The
objective of the course is to provide Mr. Stockwell with fundamental
knowledge of oral history theory and methodology and to initiate his
research and his fieldwork into the MFA. The expected product from this
independent study will comprise the following:
- An outline, which should be partly fleshed out in those areas
where Mr. Stockwell will be focusing his research during the semester,
of a potential full-fledged oral history project focusing on the MFA.
- Completion of a minimum of one fully processed interview.
- A final report applying oral history theory and methodology to a
historical study of the MFA.
The expectations for this class may include more than the above, but
these are the minimum expectations, along with the weekly or periodic
phone contacts and discussions arranged between Mr. Stockwell and Dr.
Wolford.

Spring Break Week
- March 21, 2005, around 3 or 4 pm
- Ryan Stockwell will be coming through St. Louis and will
contact John Wolford at the Missouri
Historical Society's Library and Research Center, 225 South Skinker
Boulevard to meet one another and to discuss the project.
- To get here coming from the east on I-64 (US 40), take exit 34B
(Skinker and Clayton), take a right onto Skinker, and proceed through
one stoplight about one mile down. The building is on the left (west)
side. You can park in the parking lot or on the street.
- To get here coming from the west on I-64 (US 40), take the
McCausland exit. Take a left at the end of the ramp and follow
McCausland as it changes to Skinker Boulevard. You will go about 1.5
miles through about four stoplights. The Library and Research Center
will be on your left (the west). Again, just park in the parking lot or
on the street.
- Go to the southside entrance that is marked for employees and
ask the Security Guard at the desk (Sean if in the morning, Marvin
after 2 pm) for me by name, and he will call my office and alert me
that you are here. The front entrance is closed, because the building
is closed to the public on Mondays, so you must use the side entrance.
