Jean Weinstock, as president of Pi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, donated the items in this collection in August 2008.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society is a professional honorary society of women educators.   The society was founded in Texas in 1929; today there are chapters in all 50 states, Canada and 13 other nations in Europe and Central America. Membership is by invitation and is extended to those women educators whose distinguished contributions and achievements in the field of education and to their communities are identified as outstanding. The first Missouri chapter was organized in 1933; Zeta Chapter, the first in St. Louis, was also formed in the 1930s. Members of Zeta established Pi Chapter in May 1947; this chapter in turn sponsored further expansion with the formation of Sigma, Psi & Alpha Nu chapters. SCOPE AND CONTENT The collection includes Pi Chapter membership files from 1952 - 2006 and copies of several books published by the national organization. FOLDER LISTING BOX 1 (030761)Books:
