The St. Louis Council on World Affairs began in 1948. The council is organized recognition of the increasing concern and continuing responsibility of citizens of the United States in world affairs, in the international relationships and foreign policy. The Association attempts to create an informed opinion among its members about the governmental, economic and cultural relationships of the United States to other nations and to world organizations. It belongs to the member of the National Council of Community World Affairs Organizations.

The Council has focused attention on international crises, trends, and traditions through an extensive schedule of current event programs, educational conferences, and services to local residents and international visitors.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The St. Louis Council on World Affairs Records, this collection documents the organization’s efforts through correspondence, board meetings, events, literature, and documentation of dignitaries who have visited St. Louis, Missouri. The collection is divided into four series and arranged in alphabetically.

SERIES DESCRIPTION
