Karl Streckfuss donated the scrapbooks to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection in July 2003.

Dr. Crossen served on the faculty of Washington University School of Medicine and compiled the scrapbooks during the course of the war. The scrapbooks provide a view of the war as it was seen during the period. Dr. Crossen compiled a large variety of sources which are listed below.
