The Florence Taussig Papers were donated to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection by Mrs. Thomas S. Hall (Mary), the daughter of Florence and Frederick Taussig, in 1997. An additional box of material was donated by Mrs. Hall on July 6, 1998. The collection contains both accessions.

Florence Taussig was born in 1878. Her husband Dr. Frederick J. Taussig was a gynecologist and professor of clinical obstetrics at Washington University School of Medicine. He died in 1943. Florence was the mother of Mary Taussig Hall, and Frederick Taussig. The Taussigs were members of the St. Louis Ethical Society. Florence was involved in Women's Suffrage, the peace movement during WWI, the Women's Peace Party, and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. She was a close friend of Jane Addams, founder of Hull House in Chicago. Florence was a member of the Board of Directors of the Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital from 1948 until her death. Florence Taussig died in 1954.
