Jack Pierson donated an addenda to the records of Americans for the Democratic Action on September 11, 1985. The material in folders 35-36 were donated on October 4, 1995

Liberal Democrats organized the ADA in 1947 to separate the political left from communist influence. (see collection 45)

The bulk of the records include correspondence between 1960-1963 which complements correspondence in collection 45. Topics covered in the correspondence include: membership, fundraising, speakers, foreign and domestic policy, endorsement of political candidates, minimum wage legislation and civil rights legislation.

Divided into four series: 1) Board meeting minutes, 1959-1970; 2) Correspondence, 1955- 1982; 3)Roosevelt Day Dinners, 1960-1963 4) Membership cards, 1961-1970. Arranged chronologically within each series. (see also collection 45)
