A generous philanthropist, Jordan came to St. Louis in 1905 and devoted over 50 years of service to charitable organizations. She established the Ranken-Jordan Home for Crippled Children, served as president of the St. Louis Women's Christian Association and the Memorial Home for the Elderly, and supported many other local charitable and cultural institutions.

The collection includes a short history of the St. Louis Women's Chritian Association and its Branches, a small booklet on Memorial Home, a short biography of Mary Ranken Jordan, and some newsclippings.
