St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church was dedicated November 7, 1791, by Manuel
Perez, the Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana. Located off Main Street in the
town of Les Petites Cotes, Perez officially changed the town's name to San
Carlos (St. Charles) the same day he dedicated the church. Daniel Boone's
oldest son, Daniel Morgan Boone, was married to Sarah Griffen Lewis at the
church on March 2, 1800. Records include baptisms, marriages, and deaths, in
Spanish, French, Latin, and English.
