The records to the St. Louis Peace Information Center were donated by Yvonne Logan of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom on February, 18, 1981.

The Peace Center was founded in the fall of 1967, by Eldora Spiegelberg with funds left over from the St. Louis chapter of Vietnam Summer, a national project designed to poll citizens on their views about the Vietnam War. It also provided information to the general public about peace activities, conscription, the Vietnam War in general and related matters.

The Peace Information Center also offered draft counseling for conscientious objectors and others involved in the draft. Support for the center eroded after the end of America involvement in Vietnam. It closed in 1974 because of lack of funds. Many of those involved with the Peace Center organized the World Community Center in January, 1975, which continues to be involved in peace activities.

The bulk of the collection consists of literature and correspondence from St. Louis and National Peace groups during the time of the vietnam conflict, from the center's founding in 1967 to its closing in 1974. It also includes administrative papers of the center and draft counseling handbooks and information. Individual case files of counseled draftees were not part of the collection.
