Headed Hardware Firm Here and Remington Arms – Active in Politics

Saunders Norvell, former head of Norvell-Shapleigh (now Shapleigh) Hardware Co., of St. Louis, and later president of Remington Arms Co., died at his home in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. yesterday. He was 85 years old.

Mr. Norvell was a member of the City Council, and in 1913 sought the Democratic nomination for Mayor, but was defeated by the late Dr. John H. Simon, who in turn was beaten in the April elections by the late Henry W. Kiel, Republican.
