Norvell-Matthews

Miss Belle Matthews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Matthews, was married at 7 o’clock last evening to Mr. Saunders Norvell. The wedding took place at the home of the bride’s parents, on Grand avenue, Rev. Mr. Brookes officiating. The spacious suite of parlors was decorated for the occasion with a profusion of plants and flowers. The bride was attended by Misses Fanny and Lucy Nisbett, Isabel Woods, Minnie Gamble, Mary Mense and Alice Knapp. Mr. Ripley Saunders acted as best man, and the groomsmen were Messrs. Beverly Dyer, Guy Lindsley, Tom McKittrick, Whitmore and Arthur Manny, while the ushers were Messrs. Walter and Weil Matthews. The bride wore a long princess train of pearl-white moiré, falling over a petticoat of white gros faille veiled by deep flounces of fine duchess lace. The corsage, cut square, was filled in with duchess lace and finished by a graceful Pompadour collar and made sleeveless. Pearl pins caught the bridal veil to the hair, and in her hand was a bouquet of pure white roses. The bridesmaids wore costumes of white corded silk, with bouffant draperies of tulle, and each carried a bouquet of different tinted roses.

A reception to intimate friends and relatives followed the wedding ceremony. Among the many guest present at this were: Col. and Mrs. Louis Norvell, Mr. and Mrs. Manning Tredway, Mr. and Mrs. Rivers Merriwether, Mr. and Mrs. John Knapp, Miss Lillie Knapp, Mr. and Mrs. McKittrick; Mr. and Mrs. Meyers, Mr. Nisbett, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Courcy Lindsley, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Crawford, Mrs. Mense, Miss Ada Evans, and many others.
