Of much interest to society is the wedding of Miss Elizabeth G. Morton,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Morton of 765 West Shady avenue, Webster
Groves, and Joseph Charles Stehlin, which took place at 4:30 o’clock
Sunday afternoon at the Morton home. The ceremony was performed by the
Rev. Dr. David M. Skilling of the First Presbyterian Church of Webster
Groves, before the mantel in the living room, banked with tall palms and
ferns from the Morton conservatory, combined with clusters of chrysanthemums
in the autumn shades.
The bride wore a soft brown crepella gown with a hat to match, and her
corsage was of orchids and golden-hued rose buds arranged with lilies
of the valley. Miss Helen Williams, who attended her as maid of honor,
was gowned in blue crepe and her flowers were pink roses. Ashby Moses
was best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Stehlin have departed for a motor trip South. They will
visit relatives in New Orleans and later will go to Jacksonville and Palm
Beach, Fla. They will make their home for the present in Webster Groves.
The bride was educated at Mary Institute.
Mr. Stehlin is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. After completing his education
at St. John’s School in New York, he made his home for 10 years
in France. He served as Lieutenant-Colonel in the French Aviation Corps
during the World War. He came to St. Louis a year ago, and plans to return
to France later to reside.
