| A fashionable
wedding of last night was that of Miss Lucy Matthews and Maj. William
Lionel Chambers at 8 o’clock by Rev. H. H. Gregg of Washington and
Compton Avenues Presbyterian Church, in the presence of relatives and
intimate friends of the couple. Mrs. Oscar Vieths was matron of honor
and Adjt. Gen. Frank Rumbold best man. The bride was daintily attired
in fleecy draperies of white chiffon over white satin, made with clinging
empire lines, and the corsage ornamented with an exquisite cape of white
Honiton lace effectively draped. The veil, which was confined with a chaplet
of orange blossoms was of superb point lace, an heirloom in the family
of the bridegroom, having been worn by his grandmother, Mrs. Baker, an
Englishwoman. The bride carried a shower of lilies of the valley. Mrs.
Veiths was becomingly gowned in coral pink satin and chiffon and carried
Killarney roses. After the ceremony there was a large reception, the house
being attractively decorated with quantities of asparagus ferns.
