The Lucy Matthews
Chambers Autobiography selection is a transcription of Lucy’s reminiscences
from 1875 until 1918. Lucy reveals much about daily life in St. Louis during
the late 19th and early 20th centuries as she reflects on her experiences
growing up in a family of eight children. Born on December 4, 1875, Lucy
attended Mary Institute and the New York Art Students League. She was also
active in the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, experimented with beekeeping,
and often traveled throughout the United States and abroad. All grammatical
errors, misspellings, and typographical errors have been maintained from
the original document. Begin by clicking on a chapter selection below. |
