| An interesting
wedding of the late summer is that of Miss Barbara Cooke, daughter of Rev.
Dr. Allen W. Cooke of Cincinnati, and Mr. Saunders Norvelle Werner, son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy Werner of St. Louis. The ceremony was solemnized
yesterday morning in the Clifton Episcopal Church, Cincinnati, where Dr.
Cooke is rector.
Several St. Louis relatives attended the ceremony, including the bridegroom’s
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Trifon Von Schrenk, and their
daughters, Betty and Mildred.
Miss Cooke was born in Japan, where her father was an Episcopal minister,
and came to the United States when quite a small girl. She attended University
of Chicago.
Mr. Werner is a grandson of Mr. Leonard Matthews, St. Louis centenarian,
and a nephew of Mr. Saunders Norvell of Larchmont, N. Y. His sister, Mrs.
G. Prather Knapp, was Veiled Prophet Queen in her debut year. Mr. Werner
was educated at University of Missouri. He has organized a Sebago Club
in Cincinnati, similar to the one established here by his brother, Matthews
Werner.
