"CINERAMA AT AMBASSADOR WEDNESDAY"

Bright lights emblazoned the comer of Seventh and Locust streets in downtown St. Louis Friday night, as the Ambassador Theater re-opened to movie-going crowds. Lines formed along both blocks, causing several observers to comment: "Just like old times." The Ambassador, which had been dark for about six months, has been renovated and new equipment has been installed for showing of all types of modem film processes, a theater spokesman said.

Previously, the theater had been equipped for showing of Cinerama productions exclusively in this area.

The movie featured in the Ambassador's reopening is "South Pacific," being shown at scheduled times daily, at popular prices on an unreserved seat basis for the first time in St. Louis. The next scheduled attraction is "Diary of Anne Frank," in a debut showing here. The Ambassador has been a downtown landmark since its first opening in August, 1926, and is considered a $5,000,000 property.
