PEOPLES FINANCE BUILDING
Throughout its history, this landmark building housed some of Saint Louis's leading African-American businesses. Doctors, lawyers and photographers conducted business here, along with the J. Roy Terry School of Music, the Moving Picture Operators Union, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.), the Peoples Finance Corporation and the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. For many years Mrs. Kittrell's restaurant occupied the basement and a ballroom operated on the top floor.
