The University of Missouri–St. Louis is a public metropolitan university located in Missouri's most populous and economically important region. UMSL provides excellent learning experiences and leadership opportunities to a diverse student body through the university's outstanding faculty, ranked programs, innovative research and community partnerships.

We educate St. Louis
The success of the university – and its students, faculty and alumni – is inseparable from the success of the St. Louis area. No other university brings more to bear on the social and economic advancement of the St. Louis region than UMSL.
More than 58,000 UMSL alumni live and work in the area. They are your friends and neighbors, your child's teacher and soccer coach, an emergency room nurse, your optometrist and a small business owner on your street. They are the leaders of St. Louis-based corporations. They are the researchers who work to solve global health problems.
Be a part of history
To enhance the ways in which UMSL serves and educates the citizens of the region, the university has launched its first comprehensive campaign – the Gateway for Greatness Campaign. This historic, seven-year effort to raise $150 million began in July 2005 and will conclude in June 2012. The name, "Gateway for Greatness," pays tribute to St. Louis as the "Gateway City" and represents UMSL's role as the primary gateway to social and economic success through education and opportunity. The campaign provides a way for you to show your dedication to our students and the region as a whole.
