St. Louis Community College Transfer Guides
The St.Louis Community College/University of Missouri-St. Louis transfer guide is intended to facilitate a smooth transfer for those students working toward an Associate’s degree at St.Louis Community College who plan to complete a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This transfer guide was developed based upon requirements in effect at the time of publication. These guidelines are subject to change without notice; therefore, students should meet with their St.Louis Community College Counselor and UM-St. Louis Transfer Coordinator each semester.
- Students completing an AA/AS degree from SCCC that includes the Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Eduation (CBHE)42 credit hour approved general education core will be allowed transfer credit of more than 64 hours only if the additional lower division credits are applicable to the baccalaureate degree or are prerequisites for upper division courses in the major.
- Students who transfer to UM-St. Louis without the Associate degree may transfer only 60 credit hours. Please consult the UMSL/STLCC General Education Guide Sheet to take STLCC course equivalents that meet UMSL general education requirements. Business, Nursing, Education, and Engineering majors should consult with a transfer coordinator before using guide sheet.
- Students transferring to UM-St. Louis without an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree may have additional courses required before continuing their major course of study at the University level.
- It is important to contact a UM- St. Louis Transfer Coordinator each semester for guidance in the transfer process as degree requirements may change. Access the transfer coordinator locator to locate the representativer on your campus.
- Some courses listed may have prerequisites. Please read degree notes carefully for additional information.
- Courses listed do not necessarily need to be completed in the order presented, but all courses shown should be completed.
College of Business Administration
Students must have a minimum 2.0/4.0 GPA for all college-level work attempted.
A student with less than 24 semester hours must meet the Freshman Admission requirements. Normally, the following lower division courses (UM-St. Louis designation) are included within the first 60 hours: Computers and Information Systems; Fundamentals of Financial Accounting; Managerial Accounting; Legal Environments of Business; Principles of Microeconomics; and Principles of Macroeconomics.
College of Arts and Science
The grade point average (GPA) necessary for a transfer student’s admission is 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and 24 credit hours numbered-100 level and above. A student with less than 24 semester hours must meet the Freshman Admission requirements.
College of Education
Students who wish to become teachers must be aware of two additional types of admission requirements. One is admission to the School of Education; the other applies to admission to the Teacher Education Program.
College of Education: Students may apply after completing two years of college work. Eligibility is based upon: satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours with a GPA of at least 2.0/4.0; no more than 9 hours of general education requirement unfulfilled.
Teacher Education Program: Eligibility is based upon: Cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0 (transfer and UM-St. Louis); completion of Introduction to Teaching or equivalent with “C” grade or better; completion of Introduction to American Schools with “C” grade or better; completion of Introduction to Learners and Learning or equivalent with “C” grade or better; satisfactory score on all areas of College Base test.
Additionally, grades of “C” or better are required in all professional education courses.

Engineering
Washington University Joint Undergraduate Program
Admission to the engineering program is granted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Automatic admission is granted to persons who have completed the pre-engineering program with a minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0 over all mathematics, chemistry, physics, and introductory engineering courses (statics, dynamics). Conditional admission is possible for students with at least a “C” in all mathematics, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering courses.
The program offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, as well as a minor in Environmental Engineering Science. Students who enter the program will take about one-half of the coursework required for their engineering degrees -- mathematics, physics, chemistry, humanities, social sciences, and some elementary engineering subjects -- on the Southwestern Illinois College campus. The remaining half of the degree program, consisting of 66-72 semester hours in upper-level engineering courses and laboratories, is offered in the evening on the campus of Washington University and taught by Washington University engineering faculty.
Fine Arts And Communication
Students in each department in the College of Fine Arts and Communication must fulfill the general admissions requirements of the University of Missouri-St. Louis,department in the College.
College of Fine Arts and Communication Admission Standards/Audition
Nursing
Four-year B.S.N (Traditional)
Transfer Admission Nursing Major (Pre-clinical)
Applicants with 24 or more transferable college credit hours:
Minimum 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. on 4.0 scale
Completion of all prerequisite courses ( See Transfer Guide)
Minimum 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. in Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology I & II, and Microbiology (first attempt calculated only)
Required science courses completed within 10 years prior to enrollment
Students should complete an application for clinicals during their last semester of enrollment in prerequisite coursework. Application deadlines: For fall semester clinicals apply by February 1; for spring semester clinicals apply by October 1.
B.S.N. Completion Program: Students must have: An Associate’s Degree in Nursing or diploma from a state board approved nursing program; a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0 on all transferable college work attempted; at least 30 hours of transferable, non-nursing coursework; and provide evidence of current licensure as a registered nurse with eligibility for licensure in Missouri.
Accelerated BSN
Admission to the program is highly selective and competitive. Admission to the University does not ensure that a student will be admitted to the Accelerated Track. The program requires full-time enrollment. Students are required to furnish their own transportation to and from campus and to clinical agencies. The following criteria are used to select applicants for admission:
- Admission to the University.
Baccalaureate or applicants must have completed 62 semester hours of academic credit before beginning the program, including prescribed coursework (see below for an outline of the required prerequisites) - Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for students with a degree or 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for students not holding a degree
- Completion of all prerequisite general education and science courses for a major in nursing with a grade of "C" or higher*
- Required science courses must have been completed within the last 10 years prior to enrollment
