Outstanding Achievement by a
Non-Traditional Student
The week of November 1st - 7th is officially the National Non-traditional Student week! 2009 will be our second year celebrating this week on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus when we recognize students who excel in academics as well as campus/community involvement and leadership. To do so, UMSL has created the Outstanding Achievement by a Non-traditional Student award.
A student is eligible for nomination if he or she is degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student and a non-traditional student. “Non-traditional student” is defined as anyone who is married, has children, working full-time, attending part-time, and/or is over the age of 23. As all persons nominated will receive a Certificate of Recognition for their achievement, self nominations will not be accepted. Any faculty, staff, or student can submit a nomination.
All nominations are due by Monday, November 9th, 2009. The Nomination Form must be completed and delivered to MSC 225, Attention: Non-Traditional Student Nomination, or by e-mail to askamentor@umsl.edu, subject line: Non-Traditional Student Nomination.
Students will be notified of their selection by November 16th. A reception and award ceremony will occur at a later date where these distinguished non-traditional students will be recognized for their commitment and service to their education and non-academic responsibilities.
