Elections will be held online Monday, April 14, 2008 trough Friday, April 18, 2008

Please place my name on the ballot for election as a student member of the University Assembly and Student Senate. I have read the eligibility requirements stated below and believe I qualify. I hereby grant permission for my eligibility to be verified by the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs and the Office of Student Life. I understand that if I am elected, my eligibility will be verified from time to time.

Eligibility Requirements

"To qualify for service on the University Assembly, a student must be enrolled in good standing, must not be on disciplinary probation, must have a cumulative grade point average calculated by the University of Missouri-St. Louis to be at least 2.0, and must have completed a minimum of nine hours of academic credit at the University of Missouri-St. Louis" (Assembly bylaws -- 300.040 D.1.).

"The grade point average used to determine student eligibility for service on the Assembly and on committees of the Senate and Assembly shall be overall cumulative grade point average reflected in CICS5" (Senate and Assembly Operating Rules -- 1).

"The Faculty Senate shall meet monthly during the academic year, and the University Assembly shall meet every-other month within semesters" (Senate and Assembly Operating Rules -- 3). These meetings normally take place on Tuesdays at 3:00 PM. All elected representatives are required to attend.

"All students, irrespective of their status as elected, appointed, or ex-officio members of the Assembly and/or committees, are required to satisfy the eligibility requirements stated in the by-laws during their candidacy and throughout the entire period of their service. Elected students will be replaced in accordance with the by-laws if they fail to satisfy all requirements. Ex-officio student representatives will not be recognized by the Assembly/Senate if they fail to satisfy all requirements. A qualified replacement may be appointed by the Assembly/Senate Chairperson to serve until such time as the ex-officio student representative meets the stated requirements" (Senate and Assembly Operating Rules -- 11).

"Only voting members of the Senate and Assembly may vote at their respective meetings. Proxy voting is prohibited" (Senate and Assembly Operating Rules -- 12). Therefore, all elected representatives are required to attend their respective meetings.

"Only voting members of Senate and Assembly committees may vote at committee meetings. Proxy voting is prohibited" (Senate and Assembly Operating Rules -- 13). Therefore, all elected committee members are required to attend their committee meetings.

"Elected student members of the Assembly will serve a term of one year and shall be elected by the student body each year." "The term of office of all members shall begin on the first day of August following their election" (Assembly bylaws -- 300.040 D.1.).

Once elected all electronic communications from the University Assembly and Student Senate will be sent to your official university student e-mail account. Please check your official university student e-mail account at least once a day.

To qualify for election you must be planning to enroll in at least three (3) credit hours at the University of Missouri-St. Louis for the Fall 2008 and Winter/Spring 2009 semesters.

Your election is for one of the thirteen (13) student spots on the University Assembly. Once elected to the University Assembly you will automatically receive a spot on the Student Senate Organization.
