Intramural Sports

The Intramural Sports Program is an integral part of campus life here at UMSL. It is designed to provide students, faculty, and staff with the opportunity to take an active part in organized sports and recreational activities.

The Intramural Program offers men's, women's, and coed competition in such sports as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, floor hockey, bowling, tennis, racquetball, and badminton. Fun special events include skills contests, trivia nights, off-campus rec treks, poker tournaments, softball barbeques, and much more. Our programs are intended to embrace individual differences as they serve the varied recreational needs and interests of our diverse campus community. Campus Recreation is proud to offer "something for everyone".

Wellness Programs

If you are interested in personal fitness, Campus Rec Wellness Programs offer an expansive variety of classes and services to accommodate your individual needs and interests. Our wellness classes are taught by certified instructors and include aerobics, aquatics, martial arts, and spinning. These programs provide participants an opportunity to develop, grow, and maintain a healthy lifestyle within a fun and friendly atmosphere. Also available are such fitness services as individualized personal training, fitness and dietary consultation, and body fat analysis.

Open Recreation

Open Recreation is another recreational outlet for students who wish to participate in non-structured forms of play. Why not jog a few laps, play a game of racquetball, or join in some pick-up basketball? Treat yourself to a good work-out in the aerobics room, swimming pool, or fitness center. You'll find just about everything going on inside the Mark Twain Building during open recreation hours.

Mark Twain Building

The Mark Twain building houses the UMSL Campus Recreation Departments, as well as the Athletic and Physical Education Departments. The recreation facilities available in the building are numerous and varied to meet almost every athletic and fitness interest. The largest single activity area of the Mark Twain building is the gymnasium. The main gym accommodates the varsity basketball court or can be subdivided into three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, or six badminton courts. Additional play spaces are located on the two balconies that adjoin the gym. Other recreational areas include two racquetball courts, a fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a multi-purpose aerobics room, an indoor tenth-mile running track, a table tennis room, and a 25-yard, six lane swimming pool. Use of the MT facilities is free of charge with a valid UMSL ID card. Check our Campus Recreation home page for open recreation hours.

Locker room facilities are complete with full-length lockers, showers, and dry saunas. For your convenience, the Campus Recreation Office also offers locker rentals, free towel services, sports equipment check-out, and racquetball court reservations.

In addition to the indoor facilities, the UMSL athletic complex contains approximately six acres of outdoor space including soccer, baseball, and softball fields, tennis courts, and all-purpose intramural playing field.
