Waiver Policy

A student who does not possess a baccalaureate degree in social work from a CSWE accredited social work program but who can document that he or she has completed courses in the professional foundation curriculum (year-one curriculum) may be given course waivers and allowed to take elective courses. All courses that are approved for waiver credits must have a grade of 3.0 (B) or higher on a 4.0 scale.

A student from a non-CSWE accredited social work program who has taken courses that are comparable to those in the professional foundation curriculum, may take place-out examinations instead of the courses. If the student successfully passes the place-out examinations, he or she may be waived from the courses.

Placing out of a course or receiving a course waiver does not provide graduate credit. These are mechanisms for allowing elective courses to be substituted for some or all required professional foundation courses.
