Graduate Field Practicum II (SW6800) and Graduate Field Practicum III (SW6850) are each 300 hour/3 credit hour field experiences taken in conjunction with classroom concentration coursework. Students select placements within their area of concentration (Family Practice, Social Work Leadership and Management or Gerontology) and in conjunction with their career goals. Students must attend a practicum planning workshop the semester prior to beginning the concentration field experience.
All students must have an MSW supervisor and must have passing grades in field placement to graduate. Students who lack either the intellectual or emotional aptitude for professional social work practice or who violate the National Association of Social Workers' Code of Ethics based on their performance in field practicums will be reviewed for possible dismissal from the program according to established policies.
