Junior Science, Engineering and Humanities Symposium

Administrative Procedure

  • Group Applications are submitted by December 1.

  • In late December letters are mailed informing schools regarding who is funded by the grant.

  • Individual applications for both students (student applications must have parental signature), teachers, and adults are due January 20.  Anyone planning to attend the symposium must submit an individual application.

  • Two copies of research papers are to be received by February 10.  All students indicating they would submit a paper on the group application should mail their paper to the symposium office.

  • Papers are sorted into categories (chemistry, environmental science, etc.) and given to a panel of judges to determine whether student is selected to present.

  • In early March students are informed whether they are presenting for competition on Friday morning.

  • If student is not selected for presenting for competition, he/she might be invited to present their paper informally at the hotel on Thursday night.

  • Top 36 presenters and their teachers will have a meeting on Thursday night at the hotel to discuss the next morning’s presentation procedure.
