Monsanto Science Teaching Award
Purpose
The Monsanto Science Teaching Award was established in 1985 to reward science teachers who have demonstrated unusual achievements in the development and guidance of their students with respect to the understanding of the processes of science and the acquisition of the cognitive, effective, and psychomotor skills to do science.
Description of Award
The Monsanto Science Teaching Award is sponsored by the Monsanto Foundation in cooperation with the University of Missouri-St. Louis and is given annually to a science teacher in the state of Missouri. The award consists of a recognition plaque awarded at the statewide Junior Science, Engineering and Humanities Symposium and a honorarium of $1,000.
Qualifications
The awardee must be a practicing teacher or teacher retiree with a minimum of 10 years of science teaching experience and holding an advanced degree. Selection will be based on the success and extent that the applicant has fostered the knowledge, interest, philosophy, and skills of their students in the sciences.

A minimum of six letters of recommendation must be submitted including at least one evaluation from an immediate supervisor, a peer, and former student. In addition, a narrative addressing seven categories of personal and professional goals must be included. All application forms and recommendations must be completed and mailed by February 1.
