Convert a Power point presentation to HTML format

| Power Point 97 | PowerPoint 2000 |

Power Point 97

1. Open your Power Point presentation. From the File menu, choose Save as HTML. This will launch the Save as HTML Wizard.

2. From the Start screen, click Next, select New Layout and click Next again. This will prepare the program to save your current document (not an older existing one) in HTML format.. If you have a previous html power point layout, you can use it here (this allows you to skip several of the following steps)

3. The Save as HTML Wizard will prompt you for a layout style. You can choose either Standard or Browser Frames. We recommend Standard because some users' computers have trouble with frames.

4. At the Graphic Type menu, select either GIF or JPEG. By selecting the jpg format with a 60% compression value, less space will  be taken by your presentation (and speed up download time).  The power point animation is used for playing any animation included in the original presentation.

5. If you wish to make your  presentation available to older computers (with lower resolutions), use the 640 x 480 option.  Very rarely, would you save at a format greater than 800 x 600.

6. At the Information Page Options dialog, fill in your email address, your home page URL, and any additional information you want included on the information page.

7. You also have the option of how much screen you wish to take up in  your  presentation.

8. Click the checkboxes to select whether you want to include a link so users can download your presentation files to their own computer.

9. Choose a color scheme. We recommend that you use the browser default colors in your presentation; if you use other colors your users may experience unpredictable results. To do this, leave the Use Browser Colors radio button clicked. If you want a new scheme, click the Custom Colors radio button.  If you have decided to select Custom Colors, customize your page with the Change Background, Change Text, Change Link, and Change Visited buttons. Use the box on the right to preview your new colors.

10. In the next dialog box, choose the button style you want to use. You may use any of three graphic button styles or simple text links to navigate your presentation.

11. At the Layout Options dialog, choose the location of your buttons. We recommend putting them on the left side so your readers won't need to scroll down on every page to find them.

12. You will be prompted for a location where you want to save your presentation. TIP: Use a separate folder for each presentation! Power Point uses only a limited selection of names, and overwriting is a problem if the files aren't kept separate.

13. Either enter the location of your folder or click the Browse button to locate it. Click Finish to complete the process.

14. This is where you would save the settings so that you can use these settings in a  future power point to HTML conversion. The finished product can then be uploaded to the web.
